When setting the anchor you have to set two things, the location of the anchor and the allowed distance.

By choosing the location you can decide between three options, you can choose:

- your current location

- advanced current location, this option comes in handy if you have already dropped the anchor and want to switch on the application afterward, you have to fill in the distance to the anchor and the bearing to the anchor. The bearing can be easily calculated automatically by your phone, you can do this by pressing the compass button and pointing your phone to the anchor. (some devices do not support this, in that case, you have to always enter the bearing manually)

- custom coordinates

When setting the anchor you have to decide when you want the application to inform you that you are possibly drifting. You can either decide on the maximum distance between your boat and the anchor by choosing the normal distance.

However, if you are for example anchoring in a bay, somewhere where there is a strong current e.g., you might consider choosing the advanced distance. With this functionality, you can define the radius around the anchor where you allow your boat to move individually for one specific situation. You set the small distance and the big distance to the anchor and then decide at which angle the big distance should start and at which angle it should end.
